WHY Kids!

WHY Kids!

God gives us a beautiful picture of His design for faith formation in kids. In Deuteronomy 6:4-9 we see it:

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

God designed the family to be the primary source of faith formation in children! Therefore, the church is an important complement to their efforts, and it is a sincere privilege for us to be in this role. See below for some of the ways in which we come alongside families.

Kids' Ministry at The WHY Church

Sunday Mornings:

•Kids of all ages are a very important part of our church! Families begin the church service together sharing breakfast, conversation, and worship at our round tables. There is a children’s message during the service, and the church prays a blessing over the kids. During the school year, children are then dismissed to their Sunday School (WHY Kids) time.

•Childcare is provided for children 6 weeks through 3 years. Our littlest ones learn about Jesus through play!

•WHY Kids – Children ages 4 through 5th grade participate in small group learning time according to their age. Our small groups are led by caring adult volunteers, and we utilize the curriculum The Gospel Project for Kids! Click the link below to explore this Gospel-centered, chronological, hands-on curriculum.

•Families are equipped each week with special take-home pieces from The Gospel Project to implement at home.

Baptism

Many parents want to make a public promise to God that they will raise their child to know and follow Jesus. The WHY Church baptizes people of all ages, including the youngest of disciples, still held in their parents' arms. Whether your child is a baby, young child, or student, please let us know if you are interested in baptism. In preparation, we offer a baptism class, hosted by Pastor Bjorn Dixon.

3rd Grade Bibles

Parents of 3rd graders present their child with the Adventure Bible, and join their child in a special class to become familiar with their new Bible and the joys of reading scripture!

First Communion

In the spring of every year, we celebrate First Communion with our 5th grade students. Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, is the special meal where we receive the body and blood of Christ in bread and wine, and remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. 5th graders and their parents will attend First Communion class in preparation and also receive Life Application Bibles as a special gift.
