Baptism

Baptism

At the WHY Church we celebrate baptism with people of all ages. Whether you have personally come to faith in Christ, or you are parents who desire to baptize your little one, baptism goes hand in hand with following Jesus. Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” If you have any questions about our understanding or practice of baptism, please contact Pastor Bjorn Dixon.

Preparation for baptism is completed by attending our baptism class. For babies or children, both parents are requested to attend. Baptisms are celebrated in our Sunday morning worship service using a baptismal font (basin), or you can choose to be immersed in the YMCA pool or Lake Orono.

Baptisms aren’t just for babies! They are for people at any age who are beginning their new life with Christ (or who have not yet been baptized). Baptism is the outward symbol of your internal commitment to being a follower of Jesus Christ. It is also important to remember that baptism doesn’t save you, that is done by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
